A Competition Between Crossovers: The Subaru Ascent vs the Subaru Outback
People trust in Subaru over many other brands for as variety of reasons, raging from their style to their performance and, of course, their long-term dependability. However, the question you might ask yourself is "Which new Subaru SUV is right for me?"
Interior Space

The right crossover for you is dependent on how much space you need for
your drive to and from Tustin, as then new Subaru Ascent features three
rows of seating with a passenger volume of 153.5 cubic feet and
available seating for up to eight people.
The Subaru Outback provides a roomy interior still but can only accommodate five passengers. The Outback does, however, offer a cargo capacity almost equal to that of the Ascent with its third-row seatbacks folded in.
Performance
In
terms of traction control, both of these crossovers are well-matched as
both come standard with the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and
X-MODE®, maximizing control in adverse driving conditions through
Irvine.
However, the engine of the Ascent generates 260 horsepower and a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, while the Outback can tow up to 2,700 pounds and its SUBARU BOXER® engine generates 176 total horsepower, though a 256-horsepower engine is available on the Outback.
Features
While both of these crossovers feature most of the same standard and
available features, the Outback comes standard with integrated
retractable cross-bard on the roof rack, which can hold up to 150 pounds
and features integrated tie downs.
This useful off-road feature is unavailable on the Ascent, which features mainly roof rails. However, you may find the Ascent's towing capacity sufficient to make up the difference.
As you can see, both have of these crossover SUVs have their distinct advantages, so it is up to you what you need more! Come test drive either model here at Irvine Subaru, just 16 minutes outside of Laguna Niguel in Orange County. See you soon!
