We're still a few months out from 2020, but that hasn't stopped Subaru from dropping new 2020 models in Orange County. Whether you're from Anaheim or Lake Forest, it's time to get excited about the all-new and updated 2020 models that have arrived at Irvine Subaru.

Light Updates for the 2020 Ascent

The Subaru Ascent was an all-new model for the 2019 model year, at last offering drivers a Subaru option with three rows of seats. Since it's only a year-old model, however, Subaru has not opted for a significant overhaul for 2020. Instead, the large SUV gets some modest updates that aim fine-tune the already successful model.

  • A Rear Seat Reminder system is now standard on all Ascent models. This system will alert you to any items that you may have left in the back seat. It sounds an audible alert and also shows a graphic in the instrument cluster.
  • One-Touch Controls for interior lighting are now standard for Premium trim and up.
  • The Touring trim now gets Power Folding Side Mirrors.

Complete Redesigns for the 2020 Legacy and 2020 Outback

For more than two decades, the Legacy and Outback have been two sides of the same coin. The two have always shared the same platform, but each one has a distinct focus and appeal from the other. This trend continues with the 2020 variants of both models. Each has been redesigned fully for the new model year.

The biggest change is a switch to the new Subaru Global Platform. This design switch affords stiffer suspension and better handling to both the Outback and Legacy. This stiffer suspension doesn't impede comfort however: Subaru has gone to great lengths to make sure the two models balance their sharp handling with a forgiving and pleasant ride quality.

There's a change under the hoods of this duo as well. Both models have cast aside the optional six-cylinder engine of the previous generation in favor of an available turbocharged four-cylinder BOXER engine with 260 horsepower. The stalwart 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated BOXER engine remains, though updates bring output up to 182 horsepower.

Tech upgrades arrive with the new 2020 Outback and 2020 Legacy as well. Of particular note is the newly available 11.6-inch display screen that sits vertically-oriented in the center stack. Both also offer standard EyeSight driver-assist technology.

Other 2020 Models Slated for Arrival

As we edge ever closer to the new year, Subaru will unveil more and more model updates for 2020. From the compact Impreza to the high-performance WRX, these new 2020 models are sure to bring all sorts of advancements to the table. Subaru is gradually shifting its model lineup over to the Subaru Global Platform, so expect some of your favorite nameplates to reap the benefits of the platform's laudable handling and comfort.
