Suspension
If all roads were perfectly flat and smooth, you wouldn't need long travel 4-wheel independent suspension. Unfortunately, the real world is filled with pothole-pocked city streets and washboard dirt roads. The Subaru long travel 4-wheel independent suspension makes sure you're ready for all of them. Because each wheel functions independently with a long travel design, unexpected dips and bumps are no problem. The suspension easily absorbs road irregularities, so each tire stays right where it belongs -- on the road. It's no wonder so many mountain bikers and paddlesports enthusiasts count on Subaru to get them to the most remote trailheads and streams. But regardless of where you drive, our long travel 4-wheel independent suspension ensures that you'll always be comfortable and confident in a Subaru. ( what that means, more technically, is... ) The heavy-duty raised 4-wheel independent suspension provides predictable handling both on and off-road. Extra-long wheel travel helps keep the tires firmly planted, generating surefooted stability over rough surfaces and winding roads. The low-friction design with S-shaped coil springs minimizes the impact of bumps. Front and rear stabilizer bars reduce vehicle lean. Rear L-arm bushings in the front suspension are liquid-filled to dampen vibrations for occupants. The rear suspension even provides passive rear-wheel steering as cornering forces increase. The rear wheels turn with the car and actually help steer for more stable tracking when cornering hard. ![]() |
